Wedding Trivia- Bouquets and June Weddings

This morning I went to the Amish Market in town to get our weekly supply lunch meat and free range chicken eggs and in their weekly flyer was some interesting bit of trivia, I though I would share with you!

Back in the 1500’s most people got married in June, because they took their ‘YEARLY’ bath in May. They still smelled pretty good by June. However, since they were starting to smell, brides carried a bouquet of flowers to hide the body odor. Hence the custom today, of carrying a bouquet when getting married :p

I thought this was the funniest thing. I am unsure of the validity, but still it is very humorous. So glad for indoor plumbing and brides that now bath !

Congratulations Chudi and Alex. I cannot tell you what a great time Eric and I had with you! A lovely country and a lovely couple. You are such a great example of ethnic beauty!

For those who do not know, Chudi is of the Nigerian culture and Alex is Ukranian. It was a lovely day full of culture from both sides Thank you for letting me part of you day
